As many of you out there know, there is a big difference in a quality upper receiver and an average upper receiver. Sometimes you get a receiver with a barrel extension bore that is "thermal fit" requiring use of heat to get the barrel in. Sometimes you get a receiver with a barrel extension bore that is loose and the barrel just falls right in.
Well, we feel like we found the perfect blend of both worlds with our specs. We are calling it the Perfect Fit Upper Receiver or PFUR for short. With the Perfect Fit Upper Receiver and an in-spec barrel extension, you should have a very slight press fit of the barrel into the receiver. No use of heat required and no falling right in. Just a smooth firm downward press by hand and your barrel is in place!
Because the barrel extension bore is so precise, it will eliminate the need for any shims if you want to bed the barrel to the receiver. You will only need to apply Loctite to the extension on the barrel and push it in.
This upper receiver Standard Mil-Spec top rail.
This receiver has an enlarged ejection port. We recommend this upper receiver on Big Bore Calibers, Pistol calibers, and any other barrel/caliber that has one large single feed ramp because there are NO M4 feed ramps in this receiver. However, this receiver can also be used on upper receivers that are firing a standard caliber like .223 Remington, 5.56x45mm, and .300 Blackout. The enlarged ejection port simply allows more room for the extracted case to be ejected through.
The internal bore of the upper receiver is also coated with Dry Film Lubricant as per Mil-Spec.
Please Note: The barrel extension is also a critical component in the fitment to the upper receiver. You may notice some barrels are tighter or looser than others. We have tested many different extensions and feel we have found the perfect happy medium. The fit will be more on the snug side rather than the loose side, unless the barrel extension is undersized.
